Automating Data Extraction from Customer Interviews for Quantitative Insights

I have a customer case that i cannot figure out, so I hope you can help me. They are doing interviews with an interview guide, and are looking to extract quantitative data from the interviews. Eg. customer A gives solution B a rating of 2. How can I do this? I am currently going through the interviews (and using magic highlights), to tag the data and then putting it in the highlight board to manually extract, but they only have less than 5 minutes to look at the interview after it is conducted and they want to do 1000+ interviews, so this will be too time consuming. Is there somewhere I can set up the questions like in the quantitative function, and it will then find the right places automatically? I need some sort of automation for this..

Hey Andrea, that sounds like a tough situation. It would sound like an unmoderated test would have been the best method for this, if they're trying to do 1000+ sessions? I don't think Dovetail is the right tool for that, to be honest. Most companies use a platform like usertesting.com but there are a lot of other ones these days.

    • They allow you embed survey questions as a task, while the people think out loud (it's recorded as well, so you get a video to watch their rationale)

    • And the sessions are done asynchronously, so data can come in overnight and on weekends etc
