I am trying to import data from a csv file similar to a survey but it fails and just tells me There were issues importing your data. I wish it gave me more details about the failure.

Hi Beth Kyle! Totally fair and so sorry about the issues you are experiencing. The team is aware of a bug that should be causing the issue you are experiencing, and are working on a fix. We are also working on improved error messaging as part of this work, so will be improving that very shortly.
