Yep, but it doesn't show any filtering options.

oh right, sorry, forgot about this new interaction! 🤦‍♀️ it’s actually on the left side floating menu, the ‘Add references’ option opens up a search modal and you can only filter in there…

But that one is only meant to be used to add highlights, right? So the ability to filter the highlights on the board, as shown in the video i referenced, is no longer possible?

as far as i know, that’s no longer possible with the recent nav updates 😕 i think they expect users to create multiple canvas views for the different filters 🤔 (at least, that’s how i’ve been using them since the updates)

armina yeah, that's been my go to also. But I would like to be able to use this feature to assess how different roles (or whatever) put emphasis on different clusters by filtering the results of a big canvas too. It just seems a bit weird they got rid of it. Can Jeremie Gluckman or one of the dovetail crew bring some clarity here?

We rolled out updates to our Canvas view on March 11th of last year. With this update, we removed filters from the Canvas. The key aspect of this change is that you now start with a blank canvas and bring in only what you need. There is still a filter option available via the reference picker that Armina mentioned. We also have this feedback post that you can vote on our add your comments to.

Jazmin Thanks for the clarification. I'm less than a year in to my Dovetail usage and have therefore only used the current version of canvas and filtering. It's great when you know what you're looking for, but when exploring and analyzing highlights, it's too cumbersome and limiting to be forced to do the filtering before importing the highlights. I would really love to have the old filtering too, which I commented on the feedback page. Crossing my fingers the voices on that change are heard.
