Concerns About Deteriorating Transcription Quality for Mixed Accents

anyone else feel like the transcription quality has degraded recently? going through several hours of transcripts of interviews that combine british and american english accents and the quality is just really poor, it can’t even properly distinguish where I’m speaking vs where the participant is speaking, which hasn’t been a problem in the past

    I’ve had consistently poor speaker attribution for over a year and have contacted dovetail about it several times, sent in examples, etc. They said they fixed something but I personally have not noticed an improvement. Agree that it’s frustrating, esp when it’s a core use of the software.

    Hey Sofya and Carolyn, I'm from the engineering team at Dovetail. I'm really sorry to hear that transcription quality has gotten worse for you recently. While we haven't made any changes to transcription on our end, our current transcription provider continues to work on quality improvements. But this time, it appears quality has degraded in some cases. We are evaluating an alternative transcription provider which we believe will increase accuracy and speaker attribution.     Yes! Significantly - after the launch of version 3. Parts of the sentences are ommitted, and parts of the dialogs asre assigned to the wrong participants. Many words are misspelled - even when they are added to the custom dictionary. Our account rep told us it happened because Dovetail switched to the different model. I've been looking forward for that to be fixed since October, but did not see any improvements since then.

    since October?? oh no 😱 I’ve only noticed it in December once I got a whole bunch of new data in for analysis. It’s taking so much time to tidy up the transcripts now and it’s affecting the accuracy of auto summaries and suggested highlights too 🫠 Peter Wooden do you have an estimate on when we can expect this to be improved/ fixed?

    Hi Sofya, I'm able to put some workspaces immediately onto our new transcription provider, depending on what processes are required by your organization's contract with us. Other workspaces may take between a couple of weeks, and a couple of months. If you DM me you workspace URL, I can check when we are able to switch your workspace.
