How to Compress Large Google Drive Files for Successful Uploads

Hello everyone I wanted to upload an interview and the file from Google Drive is quite large, 1GB, and I get an error on the import. Is this a limit for file sizes? Do you know a quick way to compress the file? I am not the owner of the file, it was just shared to me. Thanks!
