Clarification Needed: Deleting Columns in Survey Project with Auto-Insights

·
·

Hi, I submitted something I thought was a bug but, after talking with my coworker who experienced the same thing, we think it's how it's intended to work. Here are the details:

  • Uploaded survey results to a project

  • The project was copied from another project and has a lot of fields that are needed/don't have data imported to them

  • When I try to delete the columns I get a disabled blocker icon and message that says "system fields can't be deleted"

  • This project is auto-generating insights, I'm not sure if that has something to do with the issue.

Is this the intended scenario? And if so, how do I get around it so I can delete the columns?

Hey Rachael Forster - thanks for reaching out! I am the designer working on our survey feature 👋 I totally hear you, and to be totally transparent, this isn't our intended end state, but we are in the middle of building out this feature and we haven't gotten to the point of supporting the deletion of questions yet. Without getting too technical on you, the reason for this is because it's a bit of a technical challenge - to be able to effectively delete, we need to go into each separate piece of data and delete the node from there, meaning it's a bit of a computationally heavy task. We absolutely want to get to it, but have been busy working on additional pieces to support better survey analysis (eg. single/multi data types, chart summaries, etc.) It's on the teams radar, and we hope to be able to get to it soon. In the mean time, a workaround would be to start a new project and deselect the columns you don't want to bring in in the CSV mapper. Sorry for this hassle and hope we can make this a better experience for you soon! put-the-customer-first
