How to Import CSV Responses as a Single Note in Your System

I'm looking for help when I import a CSV file. I upload a CSV from our feedback widget and it uploads each response individually, see image. I would like for it instead to upload into one note. How would I do that?

Hey Brenda Ruelas Velasquez! If you create a new blank note, you can upload the CSV file directly there and it will be embedded as a single file on the note and not create separate notes per row

I was trying out the other feature so I wouldn't import all the other data but the outcome was that each comment when on a single note.

Ah I see, the way CSV imports have been designed are that each row represents a separate response or comment, and in Dovetail each note is typically assigned to one call, meeting, survey response, etc, so it follows this same pattern. Is there a reason why you’d prefer to have comments from different rows in the CSV file all on the same note?

Yup got it! For things like ongoing feedback from users, we’ve built channels which will help do all of that for you. When it comes to other research and data types, we tend to lean more on using multiple projects rather than one larger project. This way if you do a survey and upload it to Dovetail, it lives in it’s own project where you can use a table view to see all of the same data from the CSV in a similar format, while also being able to drill in to each specific response where you can highlight, tag, add fields, etc

I also have meta-data from a survey. We have about 1500 comments, I placed all the comments in a note and used the AI to tag it. How can I then surface themes? Before, we would tag and group themes on a highlight board. This was labor intensive. How can I use Dovetail to improve this process?

Hmmm, if you use the CSV survey importer that you were using initially, you should see an insight automatically created under Insights where you can find blocks with summaries of each question that you mapped 😊
