Troubleshooting Canvas View Issues in Highlights Tab

I am not sure what I am doing differently, but suddenly, I cannot seem to change the format of the Highlights tab? I would like to use Canvas view, but I am stuck in the column view, separated by tags. I use to see options right underneath where you see the folder name and the project name, but they seem to be gone. Help!
