Clustering By One Tag: Strategies for Effective Theme Analysis

is it possible to ‘focus’ on one tag when clustering on canvas view? I have themes / subthemes, and was hoping I could cluster by tag A and see what other tags come long with it — instead, i’m getting way too many specific clusters, bc it’s treating every permutation of tags as a different set

zoomed out example. i would like to be able to group all of tag A together without it subdividing into so many groups 🫠

that’s indeed a frustrating experience and haven’t really found the best solution for this 😕 can’t tell from your screenshot if you’ve already tried this but what i normally do is create tag-focused canvas views, so for example, a view where i only show the highlights that have at minimum tag A — this way at least, every tag cluster will contain tag A 🤞

I am working thru this today and have found another workaround that might help you in the future! I am just adding one tag at a time, and manually grouping them as needed. When I finish with that tag, I go back to the content picker and add the next tag. Then, if you think it will be helpful, you can highlight groups of tags and use the ‘cluster by tag’ feature. This seems to be helping a bit!
