Hi Channel, I am assisting with someone importing a CSV file into a free workspace. We are trying to change this field type from single select, to free text. It is seemingly locked and with reduced functionality on the free tier there doesn't seem to be a way for me to globally change what this field is importing as. Any help?
As a workaround I have added a number to each field Instead of 'response ID' its now '1. response ID' But this feels like cheating a little bit. Additional context, we had some data imported as a test and demonstration, it was deleted and now we were trying to import real data (however some columns between our test and actual remained the same) I would assume if there was no data remaining (everything deleted), the columns would unmap but that does not seem to be the case
Hi Cordelia 👋 Thanks for reaching out about this! The tool tip that you're currently seeing will usually come up if you've previously mapped data in the same project. Any new responses that you upload into the same project will try to follow the same mapping. I believe that the mapping is project-specific rather than data-specific but I'll confirm this with the team and let you know! 🙏
Thanks Shwe, it would be good, if there was no data attached to those mappings that they could be edited. Thanks!
Understood! I just confirmed with our team that this mapping is project-specific rather than data-specific. This means that the new data will follow whatever mapping was set up when the test data was uploaded into the project. The workaround for this is to delete the project entirely and upload the data into a new project. You can create a new project under the Free plan as long as you've deleted the existing project. Please let me know if I can help clarify anything further!
Hi Shwe, Good to know. Since we have people working in this space, deleting and replacing the project isn't an option for us. I'll roll with the renamed fields, but it would be good if this could be reviewed in the future. If they are project specific I can imagine they would be quite hard to manage efficiently if there are multiple data uploads of different information on the same topic Thanks, C
Thanks for getting back to me and for sharing this feedback. Happy to share this back with our team. Have a lovely rest of your day!
