Contacts Disappeared: Frustrations with Platform Changes

It appears that all my contacts have disappeared. And I’ve been using the platform for 4-5 years. Every time I log on, it looks like a different product. I start from scratch.

Hi Burcu, when were you last on the platform? It sounds like you have not seen the update to Dovetail 3.0 🙂 Contacts are in the lower left corner on the front page, Tags are now a "tab" in the top of your project and in order to keep a view the same, so it doesn´t default back to grid, you need to press "save for everyone", in the right corner of your screen.

I was in last week - but true that I am not in as frequently. Also, every update changes the interface so much that it is hard to relearn the platform if you’re not in it day-today. Just some feedback. Does my platform need to be updated???

My earlier message wasn’t about how I find my contact list (I.e, entry point to contacts). My comment was that the actual list had disappeared. The issue has been resolved.

Hey Burcu B., unfortunately the world is also changing very quickly these days in terms of new technology, customer expectations, competitors, and so on—so we have to change too as a product or we'll be left behind!

As someone who has been in the field for couple of decades now, I can safely say that learnability is a core UX principle. You should also be familiar with your users workflows and key tasks. You can’t dramatically change the UX so much that every time your user logs on, he or she feels like he or she is in a different product. So take that feedback in the spirit it was intended. Good products don’t always need to chase the new fangled, latest feature out there, they simply need to fulfill the needs of their user. I don’t need the latest or greatest or my main nav moving from side to top, or various filters being added. I just need to do my analysis as fast as possible. Spending time to re-learn the interface every time I log on is getting in the way of my core task.

    Don’t complicate it, simplify it.
