Hi friends! I'm Anahita, researcher at Dovetail. I'm searching for an unmoderated research tool to test website messaging and need your help please ππΌ. The features I need include:
Video and audio recording of sessions
Integration capabilities with Figma (or ability to paste in a prototype link)
Recruitment (nice to have, but not crucial)
Would love your recommendations! β€οΈ
Hey Anahita! I've been using User Testing for web message testing + market research for a few years now, but their packaging model + how its changed over the past year have me looking elsewhere. It should technically do everything you need, but the user experience is not the best compared to other options + theres a lot lacking. For alts, I've been looking at and have had good trial experiences with Dscout as well as Outset.ai. The UX research team at my company has Maze. It seems promising and like it'd work well for integrating with Figma, however the way it functions doesn't make it good for testing stimuli that aren't a prototype. Displaying videos or image stimuli and trying to collect verbal responses to questions about them just doesn't work easily. It's not the best for marketing research, but seems great for user research. Wynter might be a good option for you if you want to pay as you go vs. doing a larger annual contract. Its been a bit since I've used them, so unsure about Figma, but I was happy with their output the last time we used them. Also unsure on video/audio recording, but still wanna throw this one out there as an option. Qualtrics has their own unmoderated tool they launched recently, but its still super basic so I wouldn't recommend it till its more developed.
Ashley you are a star! Thank you so much for the thorough message. I really appreciate it ππ». I'm going to try out Maze and Dscout. I haven't used them for a few years. I have used Outset.ai and they've been very good for user research. So I'll test this message testing with them too! Unfortunately Wyntar doesn't do audio/video recording π. Which is a shame because they're great otherwise!
Hi Anahita J., at Dext we're currently using Great Question as our consolidated tool β including unmoderated.
It does the the core things you mentioned, and they've just updated their layout for unmod
For recruitment, they can integrate with Respondent β which I've found sub-par for B2B recruitment (we work in fintech)
Otherwise, you can manage your own panel through Great Question like we do
Until last year, we were using Userlytics but I didn't find their UI to be very modern and they have a credits system that was a little confusing. Hope this helps!
If you are interested in doing a series of studies with the same group of people, Recollective is a great option.
Raymond T. Thank you so much for your response! Great Question looks perfect for me actually! Unfortunately they disabled my account, because I work at Dovetail (supposedly a competitor) π
Thanks Jocelyn S. looks like a great tool for a diary study!
Anahita J. Sorry to hear that! Yes, technically they are building a repository with video tagging abilities, and they also do recruitment. π
If you're still looking Anahita J., Useberry is a cheap and cheerful option for a variety of unmoderated studies - pretty easy to set up, integrates with Figma and does both prototype flows & heatmaps as well as session recordings.
