GM- between last night and this morning, a video disappeared from the our transcription note (the transcript remains). The video is not in trash - would be glad for an assist to recover it. Thanks.
Hi Marja, Thanks for reaching out.👋 We'll be happy to look into this for you. To do so, could you grant our team access to your workspace by completing the steps below:
I'll contact an engineer to look at your project to see if we are able to restore your lost work. If we can, we'll restore your data to an earlier state before the deletion occurred. However, the one issue with restoring an older version of your data in Dovetail is what editing you might have done after that point would also be lost (since we're rewinding to an earlier time). Kindly confirm the following if you approve of our engineers to complete the data restore request: 1. URL of the page 2. Grant us permission to access the workspace by following these here 3. Provide an approximate date and time you wish the note to be restored to 4. Confirm you approve the data restoration of the URL provided
Thanks for the quick response Cameron - given the amount of work ongoing in our workspace, I'm reluctant to restore the data to an earlier version so we'll go ahead and reupload the video from our backup and label it accordingly. I'm curious if you happen to have any idea of what might have caused the issue?
Hi Marja, Its is really tough to tell how items got deleted. Videos are permanently removed immediately if you delete them directly using the "Delete" button. This action does not place the video in your workspace trash.
However, if a video is deleted because the data item it lives in was moved to trash, that item (including the video) can be restored within 30 days. After 30 days, it is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
Items in your workspace end up in workspace trash after you delete them. These items include deleted data, tags, tag boards, tag groups, fields, templates, and insights. Managers and Contributors can view and restore objects from trash within 30 days after deletion. If the video is deleted via the action "Delete", the user can press Command/Control+Z, to undo. If the time frame allows. Otherwise, it will not be recoverable. If the video is deleted by moving the entire data to the trash, the user will have 30 days to recover the data via the workspace trash before it is permanently deleted. We would need to know the exact data and time to restore the data to. This is not a guarantee, especially if a lot of time has passed since the data was deleted. Hey Marja, As we haven't heard back yet, I'll go ahead and close this conversation 😊 If you need further assistance, please feel free to reply to this email anytime!
