hello, we’re also due to perform the dreaded plan migration from Legacy to Professional in a few weeks😬 so i had 2 questions:
I did this recently and it was not fun. I had to pull together my own documentation to understand what was changing and what the impacts were, and I still ran into knowledge gaps that I could not proactively fix. The big ones being access control (despite being a “manager” I could not reset access controls on behalf of others, and I could not get a high level overview of which projects became read-only) and communicating the impact of losing workspace tags. It created a lot of work for me that is still ongoing. I wish the documentation had been better, but I also wish the entire migration experience had been better. Although I wish ultimately that we could have kept our Legacy plan, as losing these key features seriously hamper all the plans I had to shepherd our large and disparate research community.
I believe it, Emi. We have 60 users and 15+ teams. It’s not sustainable, and I will be looking for options for next year.
Hi armina, Thanks for reaching out. I'd be happy to run you through the differences between your legacy plan and our current plans. The Professional plan is our new paid self-serve offering, and has the following differences from your current plan:
Unlimited transcription
Subfolders
Magic search
Magic highlight
User profiles
Personal insights
Public notes and highlights
These are the features that were available in the legacy plan but are not available in our Professional plan:
No access controls
No workspace tags/fields
No templates
No custom home/branding
Here's a more detailed break down of the differences and what that means:
Access Control - Any existing folders and projects with access control will become read-only to prevent them from being fully open to the workspace by default, thus protecting data security. The existing access restrictions will be maintained, and only users with "Full access" can reset these controls to make the folders/projects visible and editable again.
Project Templates - Additionally, the Professional plan does not include project templates, so any existing templates will no longer be available, although projects already created from these templates will remain unaffected.
Workspace tags and workspace fields - Any existing workspace level tags and fields will become read-only. They can still be used on projects that they’re currently linked to, but you won’t be able to link new projects or create new workspace tags or fields.
To help you make the right decision, I recommend checking out the comparison table between the current plans here. Please let me know if I can help clarify anything further regarding the extension or the differences between the two plans. 😊
